Tech Support

Our products can be collectively used to give prolonged comfort when riding, even into the 20's.
But be sure of the charging capacity of your machine. Chaps, gloves, and a jacket liner add up to about 200 watts! That's got to come from your alternator. Over time the connector terminals used in your machine's charging system can oxidize, creating resistance and localized heating and possible failure under a heavy load such as is required by multiple heated clothing items. Failure can accelerate if moisture is present in your machine's electrical system, which might happen when it's raining. When in doubt ask your dealer to check your machine out. That said, modern, new machines are quite capable of providing the power needed for heated clothing. Heated clothing can considerably extend your comfortable riding time. Here in Minnesota it can add up to 1-2 months more!

Hook-up

All our heated clothing is shipped complete, ready for hook-up to your machine. When you order you'll be prompted to choose a lead type to come with your clothing. To view pictures of available leads, see leads.

Installation of the battery type lead involves first accessing your machine's battery (picture 1). Then attach the red wire to the positive (+) post and the black wire to the negative (-) post. Lastly, secure the lead with the cable ties while insuring that the outlet is in a good position for plugging/unplugging your clothing (picture 2).

The optional on/off switch and temperature control have provisions for plugging into your lead power and clothing connection. All connectors are keyed so that you can't make a wrong connection.

Waterproofing:

The application of a water repellent such as Scotchguard enhances garment performance in regard to heat retention and moisture repulsion. Apply the repellent by spraying it on in any well ventilated area. Allow to dry fully.

Staying Warm:

In order to maximize heat transfer to your body, use your heated vest or jacket liner as an inner garment, one layer away from your skin and with a snug fit. If your core is warm your extremities will be warmer (to a limit). At some point your chin, head, hands, and feet will still be cold. We recommend using a balaclava for your head/chin, good gloves (heated or non heated), and wool socks under insulated boots.

For Harley or Sport riders who still want to look good in leathers in cool weather, try our Racer1 heated nylon vest.

Warranties and Garment Longevity:

Our products are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship. Returns, refunds, and exchanges can be made within 30 days of purchase. However, the electric system itself in our clothing is warranted for life. If yours fails we will either replace it or repair it at our discretion.

Fabrics:

ON JACKET LINER AND VESTS
Most of the fleece we use is Malden Mills fleece, acknowledged as the maker of the best fleece available. We use "200" double velour fleece which retains heat very well and is good at transmitting moisture away from the body. The inner liner is black athletic mesh which is good at transferring heat to the body. The collar is heated and made with ultrasuede for a luxurious feel.

Performance:

The wiring system uniformly covers your body with heat, not just discreet padded areas. The resistance wire is exclusively made to our specification and results in the highest performance of any heated clothing we are aware of.
